FREE summer dog-training for FOSTERS in Salt Lake City/Sandy UT

Two years ago when I fostered a dog, I had to practically beg for dog-training classes (due to bad timing and a series of unfortunate events that were beyond the control of our sponsoring org.). TODAY (literally) and every Sunday for the next 2 months, fosters in the SLC/Sandy Utah area can get FREE dog training starting at 11 a.m. at Lone Peak Skate Park in Sandy, UT.

Call 801-243-1775 or just show up with your foster dog at 10110 S 700 E, Sandy UT. Address is approximate so see map at http://screencast.com/t/ DhuOU7CkR06. This FREE class is led by a professional dog trainer and is only for FOSTERS ONLY and their foster dogs.

If you are a foster, know a foster or want to become a foster but cannot afford to pay for training, please take advantage of this very generous donation that the trainer is making as a way to give back to the foster and rescue community after hearing that there aren't enough dog-trainers to go around.

Here are a few photos from Andus K9 Training's basic obedience held class on 5/19/2012. A nice outdoor venue with perfect weather!

Lily looking for a foster

SALT LAKE CITY, UT

(download)
CAWS would really like to pull Lilly out of the shelter - she had been there the longest and is in danger of being put down very soon

However, I need a foster home for her and then I will get her out of there right away.  I would even be willing to work with someone that could only foster him for a month or so if it means that I get her out now and start showing her at our weekend events.

Please cross post this and help CAWS find a foster for her.  I would like to pull her by 15 April, if not sooner.

I am sending this msg to a LOT of people in my email book just trying to find someone that knows someone that can foster her for CAWS

I need your assistance helping this gal - please let me know if you find someone.  We know that she is very good with other dogs and very affectionate around people.  She is under two and is a pittie mix.  She is active and goofy.

Please cross-post this and help me find a foster for her this week.

Thank you,
Neila

Pit Bull Roma needs a Foster ASAP

Roma

Salt Lake City, UT

This is an URGENT Plea for Roma.

This is Roma. She is a 1 yr. old, spayed Pit bull.

Roma is VERY smart and loves to please her people. She is also very treat motivated and has learned how to sit and wait recently. She is a very athletic dog and loves to play ball out in the yard.

Roma has been attending daily playgroups here at the shelter and does very well in them. She is an alpha female and would do best in a home with a softer dog. She has good social skills, and picks up on cues very easily.

Roma has been at the shelter since 11/17/10 and it is beginning to effect her . She is becoming stressed and this effects her chances at adoption. This girl is too sweet and too smart to be passed by this way.

There is a video with Roma that you could view on our SLCo Pitcrew page on Facebook  or on youtube and type in “adopt Roma”. This will show you how she is in action.

Please if you or anyone you know can help Roma call us today!! 801 559-1100 ext. 1113 or 1137

Thank You

Look at this face! Gidget (aka "America") #A340874

Step aside Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep and other Hollywood lovelies: this gal is a shoo-in for the next Academy Award -- if only we could get her up on the silver screen. She has one of the most expressive faces you'll ever see. Until that day, our little Gidget (aka "America" for Independence Day) would happily settle for being "Best Actress in a Supporting Role" ... for your life.

This affectionate, chocolate Pit Bull Terrier is a crowd pleaser and volunteer favorite at the shelter. Fellow volunteer Sandy Crow first told me about her by saying, "Have you met Gidget? She jumped right in my lap at the shelter last week!" 3-year-old Gidget has been patiently waiting since 5/27/2010 for a new family, and scored A's and B's on her assessment tests.

In case you're wondering why she's decked out in that star-spangled get up, she is one of 4 gorgeous dogs who got to model for the shelter's "Fabulous Fourth" photo shoot on Tuesday in an effort to promote adoptions over the holiday weekend. (See news story at http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700044238/Shelter-gives-pit-bulls-patriotic-makeovers-to-boost-adoptions.html)

Come visit Gidget! She's available for foster or adoption. Ask for ID# A340-874 when you stop by!

Pit Bull du Jour - "McAmerica" - #A340865

As I put the little plastic red, white and blue top hat on him, McGraw the Pit Bull looked at me as if to say, "I have my pride, but I'm not stupid. If a silly hat will get me outa this shelter, let's do it!" McGraw (we're calling him "McAmerica" in honor of the 4th of July) is the strong, quiet type. He's far too dignified to bust into the frenzied Doggy Dance when you first meet him and may take a little longer to warm up, but is good natured and a good sport as these photos prove. Look how he let us dress him up and parade him around in the 95 degree heat yesterday at the shelter, all in an effort to find him a caring owner.

This big lug needs a loving, responsible owner. He's been at the shelter since 5/26/2010 (see how he peers longingly through the chainlink fence at a family and their 2 dogs on the other side ... hoping). Act now and adopt him for $17.76 in honor of our Independence Day anniversary!

All of the pit bull terriers get spayed/neutered (free), are current on shots (free), microchipped (free), and come with FREE 8 weeks of Canine Good Citizen training (the training alone is a $140 value).

Ask for McGraw's ID # 340865 when you call or stop by

The shelter is open Tuesdays and Thursdays until 7:30 p.m.
Adopt! Don't buy your pets, and be sure to spay and neuter to keep future generations out of the shelters and in loving homes where they belong.

Would you like to volunteer? E-mail John at slcopitcrew@gmail.com to find out when our next Salt Lake County Pit Crew orientation is.

Services shelter has lowered their adoption rates! All dogs are $17.76

national holiday. Come by for a visit and give this American boy a
chance at freedom.

The shelter is open late (til 7:30 p.m.) Tues and Thursdays. Come on

Pit Bull du Jour - Cashmere A341318

This 2 year old pit bull terrier has the softest ears you can imagine, which is how she got her name. Her ears and her demeanor are downright therapeutic to be around. Come by and feel for yourself. Ask for Cashmere's ID# A341318 when you call or stop by.
